Accessibility Statement

As of June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) sets a new standard for digital accessibility and inclusivity across the EU.

An accessible internet

At Danish Refugee Council, we fully support the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and what it aims to achieve. We see the EAA not just as a legal requirement, but as a great opportunity to prioritize making our websites and digital services better for all users.

In fact, the EAA fits perfectly with our values—especially “Be Inclusive”. The internet should be accessible to everyone. Obviously.

That said, accessibility is not a “one and done” and we are continuously working to improve the usability and inclusiveness of our website in line with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.

Guidelines are great—but what really matters is the human experience. So, if you come across any accessibility barriers or have ideas for how we can do better, we'd love to hear from you. Just email us at [email protected]—your feedback is genuinely appreciated.

Tools

We mainly use three tools to test the accessibility of our websites:

Silktide Accessibility Checker – a super-professional platform (with a price tag to match). Luckily, they also offer a free browser extension.
WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools – they’ve built a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. It’s not the prettiest, but it delivers solid insights.
QualWeb Web Accessibility Evaluator – it may not win any design awards, but it’s reportedly used by several public authorities, so we trust it gets the job done.

Complaints

In Denmark, where we are headquartered, the European Accessibility Act is overseen by the Agency for Digital Government (Digitaliseringsstyrelsen). If you wish to file a formal complaint about accessibility issues on our website, you can contact
